Summer: school is over, maxi and strapless dresses rule the wardrobe and in the South, the temperatures reach in the low hundreds.
So, what’s a girl to do when going to work in a bikini is not an option and hair is frizzy, big and curly?
1. Strapless dresses are ok with a cardigan and a pair of wedges are preferred, especially if interning. Cute and inexpensive to acquire. Skirts and shorts can be office appropriate. If they are too short and tight they don’t work, but if they are at least knee-length and not clingy or neon they work just fine. Flats can also be worn if you don’t want the height or don’t own them, just make sure to dress it up with accessories.
2. Curly, frizzy, big hair, rain and triple digit temps. In New Orleans, it rains a lot. Dry shampoo is a great moisture blocker and allows you to skip a day if you have a lot on your plate. Another option is to go short. Either a pixie (for the super bold) or a bob, classic and cute, are a great ways to keep your neck cool and the hair off your face.
So, for fun, chic and cool looks stick to flowy and light fabrics like linen and cotton, wear wedges and pull the hair off your face.
P.S. Invest in a good umbrella, water flats (j.crew), and water-proof makeup and bag.
